Developing a Smart Enterprise Framework: Artificial Intelligence Applications in Human Resources, Marketing, and Operations Management

Abstract
Even as artificial intelligence [AI] is quickly maturing into a strategic capability of the enterprise, most organizations implement the technology in human resources, marketing, and operations in segregated and siloed fashions. Segregated implementations create efficiencies in the individual functional silos, but hinder integrated cross-silo decision making, coordinated governance, and the ability to measure enterprise value. This paper presents the Smart Enterprise Framework. It offers the articulations of HR intelligence, marketing intelligence, and operational intelligence and provides a foundation of shared AI analytics, data architectures, human oversight, and responsible AI control frameworks. This research employs a conceptual framework design following a literature synthesis and proposes a validation logic that incorporates expert review, maturity scoring, and assessment based on key performance indicators. In this framework, AI is positioned as a system of management augmentation, and not as a substitution system, that assists in the enhancement of the speed, accuracy, and personalization of decisions, and the reliability of operations. This framework also provides several integrated governance mechanisms that incorporate bias, explainability, consent, audits, and model monitoring. The framework illustrates the power of cross-functional AI in enabling integrated enterprise management of talent, customers, market activity, and operations including anticipatory and real-time control of demand, supply, and quality.
