Abstract

This article reports the results of an exploratory cross-sectional study conducted with 1,456 members of the Spanish State Security Forces and Corps (FCSE). The study assessed mental health outcomes, with particular emphasis on suicidal ideation, depressive symptoms, post-traumatic stress, burnout, substance use, and additional psychosocial variables. Findings indicate worrisome levels of emotional distress, professional demotivation, sleep disturbances, and institutional barriers to accessing psychological support. The discussion addresses preventive measures, structural intervention proposals, and the development of a comprehensive organizational well-being framework adapted to the specific demands of policing contexts. This work seeks to contribute to the visibility of a pressing issue and to promote evidence-based public policies.
