Abstract

Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) significantly impact patient outcomes and healthcare costs, necessitating a multidisciplinary approach for effective prevention and early detection. This review examines practices and strategies across various healthcare disciplines, including nursing, dental assisting, medical laboratory sciences, and health informatics. By integrating knowledge and techniques from these fields, the review identifies best practices and innovative solutions aimed at minimizing the occurrence of HAIs. Nursing plays a crucial role in direct patient care, emphasizing adherence to hygiene protocols and effective communication with other healthcare professionals. Dental assisting frequently encounters infection control challenges within oral health settings, highlighting the need for standardized protocols to safeguard patients and staff alike. Meanwhile, medical laboratory sciences contribute through timely diagnostics that can inform treatment decisions and enhance surveillance. Incorporating health informatics into multidimensional strategies proves essential for tracking infection trends and facilitating data-driven interventions. Advanced information systems and electronic health records enable real-time monitoring of infection rates and compliance with preventive measures.
