Green Initiatives and Environmental Performance in Various Industries and Its Impact on Human Health: A TCCM-Based Systematic Literature Review

Abstract

This systematic literature review (SLR) examines the link between ‘green initiatives’ and ‘environmental performance’ in various organisations across sectors. The study analyses 133 articles published between 2010 and 2026 using the PRISMA methodology and TCCM framework. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the state of green initiatives carried out in organisations and their tangible or intangible impact through the lens of environmental performance. This study spans manufacturing, hospitality, banking, and even SMEs, across multiple countries. This study documents all types of green initiatives, technological advancements for sustainability, recent trends and developments in sustainability, dominant variables, theoretical underpinnings, and methodological approaches. The findings show that technology has helped a good deal in reducing carbon footprint, adopting renewables, and improving recycling in organisations. This review enlists frequently used constructs, including Sustainable Manufacturing Practices, Green Innovation, Conscious Consumerism, Human Health, Natural resources, Circular Economy Practices, Resource Efficiency, Cleaner Production, Eco-efficiency, OCBE, to name a few. It offers comprehensive research data and insights for researchers and the industry, aiming to carry out effective green and sustainable practices in organisations.
