Value Management use in Healthcare: A Comprehensive Literature Review (2015-2025)

Abstract

The application of value management in healthcare is thoroughly reviewed in this thesis, with a particular emphasis on the implementation of value-based healthcare (VBHC) from 2015 to 2025. It looks at how VBHC aims to restructure health systems so that patient outcomes are maximized in relation to costs, moving away from volume-driven treatment and toward patient-centered value creation. Value should direct all healthcare delivery decisions and system reform initiatives, according to the core tenet of VBHC. The paper summarizes the conceptual underpinnings of VBHC, including bundled payment models, integrated practice units, time-driven activity-based costing approaches, outcome assessment frameworks, and changing definitions of value. It looks at adoption trends in high-, middle-, and low-income nations worldwide, emphasizing the relative scarcity of studies and the geographic concentration of data in the US and Europe (65% of studies).
